U-6 GAME PROCEDURE

Inspect all players on your team for safety( no jewelry, no ear rings, no bracelets, only soft hair ties, look at shoes. top and bottom, and be sure all have on shin guards)

Warm-up for 10-15 minutes.

Have a coin toss...winner chooses goal to defend or chooses to kick-off.

Three players on each team start on the field. The kids sometimes need to be reminded on the direction they are going.

Kick-off...the opposing players must be on their own half and out of the center circle. The kicking team must all be on their own half. The ball must be kicked forward. Once it is kicked then play begins.

Each half lasts for 10 minutes of running time. You should substitute players about every 3-5 minutes. This is done when the ball is out or at a kick-off after a goal..

There is a 10 minute half-time.

Second half kick-off...teams switch ends and the team that did not kick-off to start the game, kicks-off.

Goal kicks....taken on the end line where the opposing offense kicked it out...the other team must be 5 yards back..

Corner kicks...taken on the end line any spot from the hash mark to the corner flag...the opposing team may stand just outside the goal arc line but no closer to the ball.

Throw-ins...taken by the team that did not kick the ball over the side line. If done improperly. let them re-do until done properly.

Penalties....only intentional hand ball is a penalty at this level. the opposing team gets a direct free kick. defense must be 5 yards back or just outside the goal arc, which ever is shorter. There is to be no slide tackles, no kicking, no grabbing, no hitting and no charging from the front of behind. If these occur. the coach may stop play to instruct the offender. It is better to just instruct the player as play continues. Play is resumed with a drop-ball if stopped.

You may keep score if you wish.

At the end of the game, you may extend the length of the game by another 5 or 10 minutes if both coaches want to do so. You must stop by the time the next teams are due to take the field.

At the end of the game the players line up an shake hands.

The most important thing to keep in mind: the kids deserve a safe, fun, and safe environment in which to play.
